Outbound Shipment Error - FBA_INBOUND_CARTON_027

Amazon has issued the following error message in the client portal for your outbound shipment.
  • This shipment has already been received by Amazon.
    Unexpected XML tag "CartonId". (FBA_INBOUND_CARTON_027)
This error occurs when Amazon's API has trouble connecting an outbound shipment in our portal to an existing FBA shipment.

Why this happens:
Amazon's March 2023 updates to the Send to Amazon Workflow allow 3rd-party provider API's to complete FBA shipments created in Seller Central. However, should a seller should make any changes to the workflow after importing the shipment, our portal will not be able to interact with the shipment, thus causing the error message above.

In our experience, if a seller simply reopens the FBA shipment within their Seller Central account, the API connection is broken. This is why we have been requesting our clients to create all FBA shipments in the portal rather than Seller Central.

Amazon is aware of this limitation to their Send to Amazon API and has said they are working on a resolution. No date or workaround has been provided by Amazon thus far.

What to do:
To resolve this error please cancel the existing FBA shipment in both our portal and Seller Central. Then, please recreate your shipment in the portal only.

Once you have added your products to the FBA shipment, please add a note such as "Ready to send" to the Notes section of the portal. We will know you have completed adding items and we can begin processing your shipment.
